Nice. I think I have one of Ray's books around which I picked up as fodder for SF notions, but never actually opened it. I didn't even realize the following he had (or was getting) at the time.

I mean, you have a point - if Ray's summation is that eventually machines will develop human-like intelligence and then transcend said intelligence (and apparently bringing us all along with them in their virtual kindness) ... but the idea is contradictory because once said machine reaches a humanlike state, it will probably just watch porn and eat doritos all day long like the rest of us.

Personally, I'm just hoping for time travelling robots. 40 years is cutting it close, so I'm hoping some nice robot will travel from the future and offer up a nice warm cup of immortality.

Not too much to ask, right?
