Actually, I don't see how this is any different from the first two Bioshocks. Usually the levels boiled down to "We're going to toss a buttload of enemies at you and see what happens!" - especially the second game. I like the games more for the art direction, writing and atmosphere.
The meta side of the writing isn't great, but the line by line dialog is still really good. There are a couple of characters directly calling back to Rozencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, and that's never a bad thing.
